Starting off with a "CERP"!!!

Mar 07, 2014

Hello and welcome to the Miller’s Party Rental Blog!  We will be posting a couple of times a month on various industry insights, fun stories, cool trends, and anything interesting relating to the event industry. Check back often or look for us on our facebook page to read up on the newest adventures in event rental. This month we are going to start off with a subject called CERP.

CERP!  What is it and why is it important to the event industry?

The event industry consists of many national organizations with some of the larger organizations being the American Rental Association (ARA), International Special Events Society (ISES) and National Association for Catering and Events (NACE). The membership of these groups consist of companies and individuals that make up part of the event industry and provide a support network for growth and advancement of their respective industries.

Miller’s has been a member of the American Rental Association (ARA) as well as the Northeast Ohio Rental Association for many years, starting with the ARA in 1983.

As part of the ongoing education and training provided by the ARA; they have developed the CERP program. CERP stands for Certified Event Rental Professional and is the only rental certification program for people in the rental industry. Enrolling in this program gives Miller’s the ability to better serve our customers with a more robust education and understanding about the different parts of the event industry. A CERP graduate is a person who has earned the right to be a leader in the event industry, guarantees that the person is a member of a reliable and trust worthy company, and one who cares about the success of events.

The CERP Course consists of the following Disciplines:

-Driver Delivery Operations

-Everyday Warewashing

-Foundations of the Party and Event Rental Industry

-Introduction to Sales: From Closing to Upselling

-Linen Processing

-Tabletop Design

-Tenting

-Warehouse Management

Each CERP student must complete three of these disciplines as well as complete 25 qualifying points through their work in the industry.

Miller’s is happy to announce that in 2012 Dean Miller graduated the CERP program, we have also enrolled 6 others into the program with projected graduation dates of 2014, 2015, and 2016. We are excited to use the CERP program to help deliver remarkable results to our clients!!!

Whether you use Miller’s for your event or another event rental supplier, make sure they employ CERP graduates to give your event that greater chance of achieving success and leaving a lasting memory with your guests.
